Alas, the wind has taken down the fence between us and our lovely elderly neighbour’s garden. This would be seen as a minor headache – if it wasn’t for the fact we keep free-ranging Bantams!
So, into the garage I went (not to be undertaken lightly!) and rescued the chicken wire roll. 20 minutes, and a small amount of cursing and blood loss later, one emergency chicken-wire run was created! A thing of beauty (ahem).
After about 10 minutes the bravest hen (Greta) ventured out and the rest followed. Although by the end of the day they were all just pressed up against the ‘strange new forcefield’ that was keeping them from exploring next door’s garden!
We’ll now see how happy they are with day two of their reduced world!
It will be nice when they can gang up on us again, begging for sweetcorn!
(Clarence at the back, Bette on the left, Audrey in the middle and Greta right.)
Here’s to a quieter night of weather!
Cheers for now,
Mat x
